For over five years, we’ve had the pleasure of serving West Des Moines and the greater Des Moines community as Keystone Chiropractic. We have met many wonderful people and cared for great patients. One question we are continually asked is:

Why did you choose the name Keystone Chiropractic?

First and foremost, our practice is not about us. It is about serving you are patients and community. Right away, we knew our last name wouldn’t be in big, bold letters above the office.

We also wanted a name that could illustrate and convey the benefits of the unique chiropractic care (NeuroStructural Correction) to every individual we care for.

An archway is one of the strongest and most stable structures in architecture. Each stone supports the load while evenly transferring that weight to the foundation. As the two sides come together, they rely on the keystone to connect them and maintain proper structure. What would you expect if the keystone were shifted slightly to the left or right? Wouldn’t there be an increased load on one side? Could that lead to increased wear, instability, cracked stones, or collapse of the structure altogether?

If your health were an arch, the stones comprising the two sides would include things like proper nutrition, exercise, sleep, mental health, and so on.

The keystone holding everything together is an optimally functioning brain-body communication (nervous system).

And, your nervous system can only function at it’s highest level if it is free from obstructions caused by structural shifts of the spine. Because your nervous system is the master control system of the entire body, it is the keystone that connects and maintains the other “stones.”

As NeuroStructural chiropractors, we view the body as an amazing feat of engineering. Every part has a specific function and proper place. When everything is in the right place at the right time, the body performs optimally. When something is out of place, secondary problems are likely to occur.

At Keystone Chiropractic, it is our primary focus to help you get back to living life to the fullest. That means listening to your concerns, performing a comprehensive examination, and working with you to correct and maintain the structural integrity of the foundation of the body, the spine. Just like a strong, stable archway, we want you to feel confident in your health.
